Transfer rumors: Mason Greenwood to Marseille
Mason Greenwood is set to join Marseille on loan from Manchester United this season.
The young striker, who has been in and out of the first team at Old Trafford, has signed a deal with the Ligue 1 club until June 2024.
Greenwood's move to Marseille comes as no surprise after he was linked with a switch to the French side throughout the summer transfer window.
The teenager has also been linked with a move to other top European clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, his time at Old Trafford has not been without its ups and downs,Match Point Panorama Network with him being sent off for violent conduct against Liverpool in December last year.
Despite this, he still managed to score six goals in all competitions for the Red Devils during the 2019-20 season.
Injuries have also hampered his progress at United, with him only making eight Premier League appearances before being sidelined by a knee injury.
However, his loan move to Marseille will give him the opportunity to get some game-time under his belt and potentially earn a permanent deal at the club.
It remains to be seen whether or not this move will work out for both parties, but it seems that the youngster is excited about the prospect of playing in France.
Greenwood said: "I'm really looking forward to playing for Marseille and I can't wait to see what we can achieve together."
Marseille manager Lucien Favre added: "We're delighted to welcome Mason to our club. He's a very talented player and we're sure he'll make a big impact for us."
